Luke Shaw calms fans with positive news after scary head injury vs Spain

September 8, 2018 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
The English defender has sent a message of gratitude to his well-wishers on social media after injuring against Spain.

A mild shockwave was sent across almost every social network after news of Luke Shaw's injury emerged. The 22-year-old defender who has been in fine form lately for Manchester United, yet again, impressed after being given the runout in England's inaugural UEFA Nations League match.

Shaw announced his presence against Spain by providing the assist for teammate Marcus Rashford to grab England's first and only goal in the game. The former Southampton player, however, saw his night end abruptly after a collision with Jordi Alba rendered him concussed.

He was subsequently stretched off the pitch by the medical staff and will undergo further tests so the extent of the injury could be determined, the English FA confirmed. An excerpt from a statement from them reads as follows: "Luke is awake and alert, having been assessed by our doctor and given an X-ray."

"He'll stay with us overnight for further observation, with another update to come in the morning."

Captain of the Three Lions Harry Kane also added his voice to the latest development and was hesitant to associate his side's defeat to the absence of the full-back.

"It's never nice to see one of your teammates go down like that, it was horrible.

"I haven't spoken to Lukey yet but hopefully he's all good. It's never nice for anyone to see that but I don't think it affected us we created chances still and maybe we could have been more clinical."

Luke Shaw, on the other hand, has come out to put the hearts of fans at ease via Twitter.
