The controversial decision by the Spanish top flight's main man will not give fans the chance to witness the biggest rivalry in football away from its native soil.

La Liga president Javier Tebas clarified a few aspects of the entity's plan to take games to be played in North America, most specifically, in the United States.

In an interview with Onda Cero's radio show "El Transistor", the president of the Spanish top flight ruled out that both La Liga giants will ever lock horns against each other in a competitive fixture held in the United States, as part of the controversial plan revealed a few weeks ago.

"Speaking about La Liga games, having El Clásico being played in New York is not viable for the time being. Logistics forbid us to stage a match as big as that one over there," Tebas stated.

Barcelona has been tipped to play the first competitive fixture to be held away from Spanish soil in January. The clash, scheduled to be played on January 27, would see Los Blaugranas facing Girona.

Date and time of first El Clásico revealed

The first La Liga meeting between the two Spanish giants had already been scheduled for October 28, but there were still some doubts about the game's kick-off time. During the same interview, La Liga president clarified when and where the game is scheduled to be played.

The game will start at 10:15 ET (16:15 CEST) on October 28. The first clash of the season will take place at Camp Nou Stadium.
