The World Cup winner has come clean on what motivated his decision to snub the Catalans.

Antoine Griezmann has finally broken his silence on the subject of his failed Barcelona move. The 27-year-old Atletico Madrid forward generated negative publicity prior to the start of the new league season for his reluctance in revealing where his future lied.

With Barcelona reportedly pursuing the signature of the Griezmann, the Frenchman initially declared that he'll make his stance clear before the commencement of the 2018 World Cup. However, he failed to live up to his word but rather delayed his decision again.

After a successful stint with his national team at Russia, Griezmann finally publicized his resolution, committing his future to Atletico via a video documentary dubbed 'The Decision'. He was subsequently slammed for dragging an issue which many believe should not have been prolonged that much.

In an interview with L'Equipe magazine, Griezmann explained that the love and support he received at Atletico was too much to betray, hence his decision to decline Barcelona's offer.

"When you're shown love at home, you don't go elsewhere", the striker who is currently on international duty with France declared.

"They did everything possible to make me feel good, including bringing in important players and building a great team. "It's difficult to say no to teams like Barça.

"I feel like the base… or the most important piece of the puzzle, that is what made me stay."

Antoine Greizmann, who was signed from Real Sociedad for 27 million pounds ($34.9 million) in 2014 has been integral in the success enjoyed by Diego Simeone's side in recent years with the forward scoring 113 times and assisting 41 times in 213 appearances.
