La Liga roundup after Matchday 3

La Liga Roundup: Barcelona takes the top of the league with 8-goal display

September 3, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
Setting a new milestone for assists in the history of the competition, Barcelona mauled Huesca to top Real Madrid's perfect start.

Three weeks in La Liga have gone by, and despite a huge investment by Atlético and Valencia, it seems that it will all be decided between Real Madrid and Barcelona, just like in the past four seasons.

Both La Liga giants have been in scintillating form, and Barcelona's 8-2 thumping against Huesca on Sunday proves it. Real Madrid also defeated Leganés with a 4-1 score sealing the only perfect starts in the league at the moment.

Messi reaches 150-assist milestone

It was just one more day at the office for Lionel Messi, as he scored against one more team in his La Liga career. But that wasn't all the Argentine ace accomplished on Sunday, as he became the first player in the Spanish top flight's history.

Gareth Bale fills CR7's shoes at Real Madrid

The Welsh footballer raised a few doubts related to his ability to fill the void left by Cristiano Ronaldo once he left Real Madrid, and he has proved he's up to the challenge. This weekend, Bale kept on his goalscoring form, which has made him one of the best scorers in the league, and also kept fans eager to watch him tear even more defenses apart in his new role for Los Blancos.
