While rumors linking Paul Pogba with a return to Juventus aren't new, those speculations have resurfaced amid the current crisis at Man United. Tuttosport is the latest source, claiming (as per Football Italia) the player has his mind set on rejoining the Italian side in January.
Most of the reasons stated are nothing new. The Frenchman doesn't enjoy the best of relationships with Mourinho, something which is well documented, and is keen on working alongside five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
Given the Red Devils' shaky start to the season, having lost two of their three opening games, the World Cup winner finds himself under more criticism from pundits and fans for failing to step up. All of this has the midfielder seeking an escape route.
Pogba pushed for a Barcelona move but the English club was unwilling to do business for a reasonable price. As a result, he is now open to returning to Serie A as early as January.
The Frenchman enjoyed tremendous success in Turin, winning four Scudetto titles before returning to Old Trafford. Given that UEFA has scrapped the rule prohibiting a player from featuring for two different clubs in one Champions League season means he won't be cup-tied if he secured a winter move.
However, Man United is unlikely to entertain the thought of selling the player. He is yet to rekindle his best form but remains a prized asset at the Theatre of Dreams, one that won't go for cheap.
