The Belgian forward made a massive blunder of a huge opportunity to grab his side's opener vs Tottenham.

Not many times do we see a player miss in front of an open goal but against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku's exploit added to that compendium. The 24-year-old striker and his teammates entered Mondy night's encounter with the objective of making amends after falling to a surprise against Brighton on Matchday 2.

The Red Devils, made six changes to the side that lost at the Amex Stadium, hit the ground running by dominating possession and creating a host of goalscoring opportunities in the first-half. One of such involved the team's target man upfront Romelu Lukaku who made an absolute mess of an excellent chance.

The ex-Chelsea and Everton man having run onto a loose ball in Spurs' penalty area, dribbled past the onrushing Hugo Lloris but failed to slot the ball into the empty net with his weaker foot. Watch the incident in the video below (geo-restrictions apply):

Lukaku was instrumental in Belgium winning the bronze medal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, scoring four goals in the campaign. However, the striker is yet to open his account in the new Premier League season despite getting minutes in Manchester United's previous games against Leicester City and Brighton.
