The former striker was Roberto Martinez's assistant with Belgium's National Team in the recently concluded World Cup.

The time for Thierry Henry to coach his first team has come. The former French footballer and Arsenal legend will no longer play second-fiddle behind another boss, as he has reportedly agreed terms to take over as Girondins de Bordeaux's new tactician.

According to French radio station RMC Sports, the French star needs to wait a couple more days to make it official, since former Girondins boss Gus Poyet was suspended for his comments against the team's board. A meeting is scheduled to take place on Friday between Girondins' president Stephane Martin and Poyet, where the Uruguayan would be given the boot, according to reports.

Since his retirement in 2014, Henry worked for Sky Sports as a football analyst. In 2016, he left his seat in the TV sets to join Roberto Martinez in his endeavour as Belgium's boss. The Spanish tactician led the Red Devils to their best-ever finish in a World Cup, with Henry playing a major role in the team's tactical and motivational aspects.

Henry has already decided that Giles Grimandi, his former team-mate at Arsenal, will be joining him as his assistant.

Terms of the agreement between Henry and the team haven't been revealed.
