With the transfer window ten days away from shutting down, Los Blaugranas are not interested in losing one of their key members.

PSG surely likes to lure talent away from the Camp Nou, but Barcelona's execs will not make it that easy for them this time around.

Knowing that Les Parisiens are still dealing with an investigation regarding UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules, Los Blaugranas decided not to enter negotiations with the French side for two of their most talented midfielders: Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic.

While the homegrown footballer was never close to leaving the club's discipline, Rakitic's massive World Cup performance saw him demanding more money, and PSG was willing to offer him a hefty deal. Nevertheless, Barça execs told their PSG counterparts to pay them the Croatian midfielder's buyout clause, or there would not be any negotiation involving the footballer.

According to Marca, PSG decided to stop their pursuit of the midfielder, who has agreed to sign a contract extension with Los Blaugranas.

Rakitic is set to sign a contract extension that will see him earning a wage increase and at least one more year to his current contract, which expires in 2021. This will prevent the player from leaving the club such as Neymar did in 2017, since Rakitic's $144M buyout clause is the kind of money Les Parisiens can't afford to spend.

The 30-year-old footballer joined Barça in the 2014-15 season, where he has won three La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey trophies, and one UEFA Champions League title, among other trophies. He was also included in the Best team of the 2014-15 UEFA Champions League season.
