Manchester Utd vs Leicester City - How to watch the Premier League's opening game

August 10, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
The first game of the English Premier League is set to take place this Friday. Follow the clash between the Red Devils and the Foxes.

Manchester United and Leicester City will have the honor of playing the first game of the 2018-19 Premier League season.

The Red Devils completed one of their most quiet transfer windows in recent memory, signing only three players in the summer break to Jose Mourinho's frustration. Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant are the only footballers signed by the EPL runners up, but that's not the biggest problem for the Special One ahead of their Premier League debut.

Due to the involvement of some players in the FIFA World Cup, Mourinho will be forced to play this game without a whopping eleven players. Nemanja Matic, Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia will miss out due to injury, while Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Marouane Fellaini are not fit to play following their holiday break. If Man United expects to collect three points, Alexis Sánchez's performance will be crucial for Mourinho and Co.

On the other side of the pitch, Leicester's boss Claude Puel will have to re-configure the team after the summer transfer window. Riyad Mahrez left the team, and the French boss may choose to give some playing time to his replacement, Rachid Ghezzal.

Added to Mahrez's departure, Puel has ruled out two of the team's most notable players: Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy. The Foxes will also have to deal with the absence of Matty James, while the availability of Jonny Evans, James Maddison and Nampalys Mendy will be determined prior to the game.
