This will be one of the last award ceremonies in which Cristiano Ronaldo faces Messi as a Real Madrid footballer.

The UEFA Champions League draw is set to take place on August 30, and moments before the world knows how the tournament's group stage will unfold, football's governing body in Europe will announce the best players in each position during the 2017-18 campaign.

Seven out of the twelve nominees come from three-time UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid, including the complete domination of the "Defender of the season" category. Liverpool follows Real's lead with two nominees, while Juventus, Barcelona and Manchester City complete that list with one player from each side.

Here's the full list of nominees, as announced by UEFA earlier today.
