Mauricio Pochettino's side will begin its summer pre-season tour with a tie against Serie A's Roma on Wednesday, July 25th.

With the 2018/2019 Premier League season looming just around the corner, Tottenham will begin its pre-season preparations with a clash against Serie A outfit Roma on Wednesday. The two sides will lock horns at San Diego's SDCCU Stadium, a multi-purpose arena also used for American football. Kick-off is expected to take place at 19:05 PST/22:05 EST/04:05 CET.

About a year ago, Roma managed to beat Tottenham in a five goal thriller, with the Italian side coming out on top 3-2. The Lupi will be hoping for a repeat as they aim to build up some positive momentum heading into the Serie A season, and given that Tottenham will be missing quite a few star players, Eusebio Di Francesco's side will natrually look to take advantage of that.

Harry Kane, Eric Dier, Hugo Lloris, Dele Alli, Jan Vertonghen, Kieran Trippier, and Toby Alderweireld are among the nine players who will play no part in this contest due to featuring in latter stages of the World Cup. However, Denmark's Christian Eriksen, South Korea's Son Heung-min, and Colombia's Davinson Sanchez will all take part in the team's USA tour after their respective nations made an early exit in Russia. In addition, other first-team regulars in this squad include Erik Lamela, Victor Wanyama, and Lucas Moura.

Meanwhile, Roma, who has already played two lower-tier Italian sides, will play their first major game without star goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who was sold to Liverpool in a deal that makes the Brazilian the most expensive shot-stopper in history. The Giallorossi have had a turbulent summer in terms of transfers, as they have already lost Radja Nainggolan to Inter and saw promising Brazilian talent Malcolm snatched right from under their noses by Barcelona.

Unlike Tottenham, Roma did not have many players featuring in the World Cup, as Italy missed out, thus meaning that a whole crop of players had no international commitments. Both Aleksandar Kolarov and Federico Fazio, who played for Serbia and Argentina this summer, are already back in the squad, while  new signings Javier Pastore and Justin Kluivert - son of Dutch icon Patrick - will be expected to feature in some capacity as the duo aim to get more minutes in ahead of the Serie A season.
