The Toffees are on the verge of getting their man.

Everton has beat off competition from the likes of Juventus and Bayern Munich and is nearing the signing of Barcelona full-back Lucas Digne. The Merseysiders had a bid of 22 million pounds accepted by Barcelona for the signature of the Frenchman on Saturday.

All that is left now is for the 25-year-old left-back to agreed on personal terms and complete his switch to the Goodison Park where he will become the long-sterm replacement for the aged Leighton Baines. Digne is reportedly interested in a move away, and as a result, an agreement is expected to be reached soon.

The Frenchman joined Barcelona from PSG in 2016 but has become surplus to requirement in the Catalans' set-up with Jordi Alba consistently impressing in the left-back position. Of the matches played by Ernesto Valverde's side across all competitions last season, the wantaway defender was given a run-out in 20.

The lack of playing time cost him a call-up to be a part of France's elite squad at the 2018 FIFA World Cup despite featuring in some of the qualifing games for Les Bleus. The chance to play actively now dawns with Everton's bid being accepted.
