Conte planning to sue Chelsea

Conte reportedly set to sue Chelsea over his Stamford Bridge dismissal

July 20, 2018 By Ali M.
The Italian plans on taking the Blues to court over an issue surrounding his sacking.

Antonio Conte's spell at Chelsea ended on a sour note with his dismissal, but things look set to get worse between the Italian and his former employers. According to the Times, the coach is gearing up to sue the Premier League side.

The former Azzurri boss was given his marching orders in mid-July and was replaced by Maurizio Sarri after only 24 hours. Antonio's departure was inevitable, but Matt Hughes writes that the 48-year-old is ready to take the Blues to court over his grievances.

Conte is due to receive around $12m in salary that he is entitled to for the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge. However, he feels he deserves more compensation due to the timing of his dismissal.

He feels that the London giant has cost him future earnings and has dealt damage to his career. It was no kept secret that he would be relieved of his duties, but he was called back for the beginning of their pre-season as the board's decision was delayed.

Conte's argument is that he has now missed out on a number of opportunities as a result of his late dismissal. There were vacancies at Real Madrid, PSG, Napoli, and the Italian national team but no top jobs appear to be available right now.

The Italian was reportedly on Los Blancos' radar but they opted for Loptegeui. Similarly, Napoli appointed Ancelotti as Sarri's replacement instead of pursuing the Premier League winner.

Les Parisiens turned to Tomas Tuchel while the Azzurri opted for Roberto Mancini over Antonio, who was under contract with the FA Cup holder back then. As a result, the passionate tactician could spend the upcoming season as a free agent.

If he goes ahead with his plans to sue Chelsea, they will be forced into a legal battle that they could do without. The club's sole focus should be preparing for the upcoming campaign and will be keen on winning the English top-flight and returning to the Champions League.
