Contrary to what some could have expected, England surpassed all initial predictions and made it to the World Cup's final four teams. Unfortunately for them, they will have to fight for the third spot after their shocking elimination against Croatia.
With emotions pouring of every fan and expert by the minute, some could have expected former English players and outcasts to start slamming Gareth Southgate and his men for tonight's result. Those harsh comments could not be found, as Wayne Rooney, Gary Lineker and Daniel Sturridge stepped up to show how to find something positive out of a shocking result such as this one.
Gutted. Massive well done to all the lads who have done us all proud, keep your heads held high. This is a great young team with a big big future

If anyone has anything negative to say about this @England team or individuals keep your tweets to yourself. Nobody would have thoughts they'd be where they are or achieved what they have and they've made everyone proud so get behind them and show love not hate #threelions

Utterly choked, but this young side gave absolutely everything. It's a huge step forward and they'll only get better in the future. They can hold their heads high, they did our country proud. Congratulations to Croatia.

Minutes after the game ended, the Three Lions' official Twitter feed thanked their fans for their support throughout the competition.
To everyone who supported us.
