Bale's agent admits his client could leave Madrid

Bale's agent discusses client's future away from Real Madrid

June 21, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
Jonathan Barnett shared a few insights on his client's situation after the 2018 UEFA Champions League final, where he scored two goals for Los Blancos.

With every day that goes by, Gareth Bale's future seems to be further away from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid's decision to sign Julen Lopetegui as their coach was meant to speed things up regarding the players that are set to leave the club, and Gareth Bale has made it clear that he wants to have a word about his role with the team under the new coach, something that hasn't happened to this date.

With that in mind, Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett admitted that the lack of communication between them and Los Blancos could see the Welsh ace leaving the club this summer.

"I believe that we have to talk to Real Madrid and see where we're going. He wants to have a better year than last one, he wants to play more, and that's really important to him. I believe that he is one of the top 3 or top 4 players in the planet, and someone like him needs to play. It's not about money," Barnett said in an interview with Sky Sports.

Bale's future became a topic as soon as the UEFA Champions League final ended, since the player didn't hide his desire to leave Real Madrid. With Zidane's departure from the team, the Welshman's future is still up in the air, and Real Madrid's president hasn't been clear on when a meeting could take place to talk about it.

Further into the interview, Barnett praised his client's skills, and even went on to say that, with the right amount of playing time, Bale could be considered to win a Ballon D'Or in the near future.

"He wants to win it, and I think he can. I think he's the best British footballer to play abroad, unless someone can name me one more player that has been more successful than him," Barnett added.

While Barnett didn't name any potential suitors, he did mention one team Bale will not be playing for.

"As an Arsenal fan I'd love him to play there, but it's got as much chance as me going to the moon," Barnett concluded.

With the FIFA World Cup still going on, it seems that talks about Bale's career will have to wait, especially if Florentino Pérez wants to sign one of the top performing players in the competition, just like he did in 2014 with James Rodríguez. Let's wait and see if Bale and his agent are as patient and don't start negotiating an exit from the Spanish giants.
