Evra: Never go to Cristiano's house

Evra says never go to Cristiano's house, explains why with hilarious story

June 19, 2018 By Ali M.
His former Man United team-mate gave insight into what it is like to be invited over by the Portuguese superstar.

It is no kept secret that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the – if not the – hardest working players in football. His dedication is matched by none, which is evident in his tremendous success.

One man who witnessed this first-hand was Patrice Evra, the Portuguese ace's team-mate at Man United. The Frenchman even shared a funny anecdote as a testament that the 33-year-old cannot just sit back and relax even on his day off.

Evra, who shared a dressing room with the Ballon d'Or king from 2005 to 2009, opened up about a time when he accepted an invitation to Ronaldo's house for lunch. The defender jokingly advised against going to the icon's house for one reason: you won't be allowed to kick it back.

Speaking as a pundit for ITV about Cristiano's remarkable World Cup hat-trick against Spain, the left-back gave an example of how relentless the Real Madrid superstar is about being the best.

"I would give advice to anybody, when Cristiano invites you for lunch at his house, just say no," Evra confessed, as per Marca.

"He said: 'Patrice, come over after training'. I went [and] you know I was really tired. At the table, there was only salad and plain white chicken so I was like 'okay...', and water, not any juice.

"We started eating and I was thinking some big meat would be coming after that but there was nothing. He had just finished and he stood up and he started playing with a ball, doing some skills and he said: 'Let's do some two-touch'.

"I was like 'can I just finish eating?' [Ronaldo replied] 'No, no let's play two-touch'.

"We start playing two-touch. After that he said let's go to the pool to swim, I was like 'okay...' after going in the jacuzzi, the sauna, I'm done. I said: 'Cristiano why have we come here, have we come here because we have a game tomorrow, or just for lunch?'.

"So that's why I would recommend to anyone when Cristiano invites you to his house, don't go. Just say no because this guy, he's a machine, he doesn't want to stop training."

If anyone remains unsure about the goalscoring machine, they need not look any further than the World Cup. The Portugal captain began the campaign in Russia in an excellent manner, earning his team a precious 3-3 draw thanks to his three-goal haul. Next up for Fernando Santos' men are clashes against Morocco and then Iran.
