The former Barcelona center back played 16 minutes against Die Mannschaft, leading Mexico to their first-ever win in Europe against a European team.

Even at 39 years of age, Rafael Márquez managed to make history in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The former Barcelona defender had a cameo appearance against Germany, and with those 16 minutes played, he joined an elite list of players that have performed in five different World Cups.

Being the only player to survive the test of time since the 2002 World Cup, Márquez joined one of his compatriots and a German legend in reaching this milestone.

The Mexican footballer needs two more games as captain to reach one more record. Let's wait and see if he can become the player with more games in World Cup history wearing the captain's armband.
