The retired Argentine ace blasted each one of the three countries involved in the tournament's organization.

FIFA's decision to grant the 2026 World Cup to the North American bid including Canada, Mexico and the U.S. was met with mixed reactions, but someone that didn't hold back when speaking about this matter was none other than Diego Maradona, who seems to have thoughts on everything.

The former midfielder and World Cup winner (ironically, in Mexico) blasted FIFA's decision to award the tournament's organization to the three North American countries, since he believes that there will not be any emotion involved in that competition.

"I don't like it, not a little bit. There's no passion," Maradona stated.

He aimed a dig at Canada and the U.S. due to their supposed lack of footballing history.

"Canadian people are good at skiing, and the Americans tried to make us play 100 minutes per game in order to introduce more publicity in football. 100 minutes," the retired footballer added.

Then, "El Pelusa" made fun of Mexico's World Cup performances.

"Mexico will be in the winning end of this deal, and they don't deserve it. Usually, Mexico wins a couple of games and then they get to face Brazil or Germany. Boom! They're out. Get them their airline tickets and that's it," Maradona added.

Maradona's words shouldn't surprise anyone, especially due to his complicated "relationship" with the United States. Ever since being expelled from the 1994 World Cup due to his problems with cocaine, Maradona has criticized anything that has to do with the U.S.. As of now, the retired footballer can't enter the said country, since he's been denied a visa several times due to his drug problems.
