Spanish Federation considering to fire Lopetegui

Spanish Federation set to FIRE coach before Friday's clash vs Portugal

June 12, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
The Spanish boss was appointed as Real Madrid's tactician earlier today, something that didn't go down well among some of his currenty employers.

Surprisingly, Spainc could face the 2018 World Cup with an interim coach.

Real Madrid announced earlier today that Spain's boss, Julen Lopetegui, would become their new coach after the end of the World Cup. That announcement prompted a massive amount of reactions, including those of the Spanish Football Federation, who are now considering to fire Lopetegui before the tournament.

The RFEF's president, Luis Rubiales, admitted feeling "betrayed" by Lopetegui, who had extended his contract with La Roja until the end of the 2020 UEFA Euro. As reported by Marca, Rubiales is considering to part ways with the Spanish coach with only two days left to begin the competition.

"It's not the right time to talk about this issue, but we will do what's best for the Spanish National Team. We will try to take such a decision responsibly," Rubiales stated.

According to Marca's report, execs from the RFEF are trying to talk some sense into their president, since firing the boss two days before the beginning of the competition would be a massive blow to the team's chances of success.
