Preview

Following their EURO 2016 heartbreak during which they narrowly lost in the final in their own backyard, France will be looking forward to the upcoming World Cup as another chance to claim a major title. Les Bleus have been quite solid so far in their recent friendlies, notably sweeping aside a struggling Italian side to make it three wins from their last three warm-up games.

Despite this, there has been plenty of criticism surrounding Paul Pogba, who had a frustrating season under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. With his future in doubt at Old Trafford, the former Juventus star will obviously want to have a good World Cup and to silence some of his critics who were not impressed with his showings for Didier Deschamps's side as of late.

As for the USMNT, they're out of the World Cup for the first time since 1986 after surprisingly losing to Trinidad & Tobago on the final matchday. There has been quite a major shake-up in the ranks, and the visitors will largely field a younger and untested side. The Stars and Stripes come into this game having seen their four game unbeaten streak snapped as a result of a 2-1 loss to Ireland, and while they are not viewed as favorites against a France team who will certainly be featuring their strongest starting XI, they certainly will hope to avoid another bad result.
