The game between La Albiceleste and Israel was surrounded by controversy from day one, and was supposed to take place on Saturday.

Argentina's World Cup Qualifiers were full of problems, and their pre-WC campaign doesn't seem to be free of some setbacks.

The team had one more friendly match scheduled for next Saturday against Israel. Nevertheless, a massive numbers of political protests involving Palestine and Israel prompted the team's execs to call the game off.

Due to those protests, which included pro-Palestine activists showing off Argentina jerseys covered in blood, some players urged to take extreme measures to have the match cancelled. Eventually, and since the protests were only escalating, the Argentinean Football Association decided to postpone the game.

Aside from the players' request, this decision by AFA was prompted by the number of voices asking to have this match postponed. In fact, the Palestinean Football Association's president Jibril Rajoub had threatened to burn jerseys with Lionel Messi's number and posters showing the Argentine player if the game wasn't cancelled.

Argentina's presence in Jerusalem was uncalled for, as this poster featuring Messi shows.

This is just one more logistics complication for La Albiceleste during their pre-World Cup training camp, as earlier today they had to cancel a visit to Vatican City, snubbing Pope Francis' invitation.

This trip was frowned upon by coach Jorge Sampaoli in the first place, since he felt that the number of activities off the pitch would deter his players from their main goal.

According to TyC Sports, Argentina is now looking for a last-minute replacement team to play against on Saturday, but time is not on their side and this team could face the 2018 World Cup with only one warmup game on their backs.
