The Manchester United midfielder has a response for his critics.

Paul Pogba has likened himself to former Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta amid being subjected to a barrage of criticisms in recent times. The 26-year-old midfielder - who is currently gearing up for the upcoming World Cup in Russia with France - believes he's been unfairly treated in the eyes of many ever since he completed his big money move from Juventus to Manchester United.

According to Pogba, his current role for Jose Mourinho's side does not allow him the freedom to score more goals and, as such, should not be judged based on his ranking on the top scorer's chart. He subsequently drew a comparison among former Barcelona skipper Andres Iniesta as well as Chelsea's N'Golo Kante and himself to highlight his point.

Speaking to France Football magazine, he said: “The maestro Iniesta. He is a leader of his team but he is not going to be judged with his goals, is he?

"I scored nine goals last season and he [Iniesta] had six. But what are we going to say? That he had a good season. And Paul? We are always going to say that it is not enough.

“Basically, it is not my role to score. N’Golo Kante, do you judge him on his goals and assists? No. My career is not finished, I cannot say that now.

“There is work to be done. I hope to progress and get better, win a maximum number of titles. Right now, I am not where I want to be.”

Paul Pogba is expected to be named by Didier Deschamps in France's starting XI when they take on Australia in their opening game at the World Cup on June 16.
