Preview

Both Ronald Koeman and Roberto Mancini have quite a bit of work to do. Each manager has inherited a squad who failed to qualify for this summer's World Cup and will need to totally overhaul and revamp the team in order to ensure that both the Oranje and the Azzurri qualify for the next major tournament: EURO 2020.

Italy come into this game having beaten Saudi Arabia, during which Mancini opted to welcome Mario Balotelli back into the fold after failing to get into the team under Antonio Conte and Gian Piero Ventura's tenure. Although Balotelli scored, it was far from an assured performance, and they failed to make much of an impression when pitted against more serious opposition in the form of France this past weekend.

Having lost that game 3-1, it's back to the drawing board for Mancini, who will likely rotate his squad for this fixture, especially with the man between the posts. Both Gianluigi Donnarumma and Salvatore Sirigu have been already given some game-time, so Genoa's Mattia Perin could likely be given a chance to feature in this upcoming friendly.

Meanwhile, the Oranje also have struggled to find their footing since failing to qualify for the World Cup after surprisingly finishing behind Sweden in their group. Koeman, who took over after the Netherlands missed out on two consecutive major tournaments, has won just one game since taking over earlier this spring. Despite showing promise by beating reigning European champions Portugal 3-0, the Oranje ended up having to settle for a surprise draw with Slovakia, during which they had to fight back from a goal down.

With a full-strength squad at his disposal, Koeman could either stick with the same XI he did for the Slovakia clash or mix things up a bit. Either way, he'll be looking to help the Netherlands overcome their bad track record against Italy - as his tactical opponent chases his first victory on home soil.
