The Republic of Ireland will aim at securing a win over the USA to crown the retiring John O'Shea's 17 years of service. The former Manchester United defender, since earning his first senior cap on August 15, 2001, has been an integral member of the Irish setup. Upon making his last bow against the USMNT in the upcoming friendly, he will take his total appearance to 118.
Ahead of the defender's send-off fixture, the Republic of Ireland will aim at returning to winning ways after falling to a 2-0 defeat against France on Monday. The form of Martin O'Neil's team in recent games has been tad unimpressive considering they've managed just two wins in their last 10 outings.
Nevertheless, their track record against the Star and Stripes should give them something great to look forward to. In, the last nine games between both countries, Ireland has been victorious in five and have drawn twice.
For the USMNT, the upcoming encounter will be one of the tests for their young squad to gather experience points. The Americans, just like the Irish, missed out on the World Cup qualification but will go into Saturday's game with momentum after snatching a 3-0 win over Bolivia on Monday.
Their fledging brigade led by the likes of Christian Pulisic, Timothy Weah, and Josh Sargent will, as a result, seek to impress once again and validate the nation's rebuilding project.
