The Reds’ shot-stopper is still not over his errors which cost his side a possible UEFA Champions League final win.

Two bizarre moments involving Liverpool’s Loris Karius gifted Real Madrid their 13th European trophy inside the NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium on Saturday. After throwing the ball against Benzema's outstretched leg to hand Los Blancos the game's opener, the 24-year-old German goalkeeper made a mess of a long-range shot by Gareth Bale and spilled it into his own net for the Spanish club's third.

This came after he’d conceded a stunning overhead kick goal off the boots of the Welshman. Following the end of the proceeding, tearful Karius - who was visibly distraught and crestfallen - rendered his apology to fans of the club inside the stadium but that did not immune him from numerous threats and criticisms across social media platforms.

On Sunday, the 24-year-old goalkeeper revealed on his Instagram page that he's not caught a single glimpse of sleep after his nightmarish showing in Kiev. He, however, expressed his since gratitude towards those who supported the Merseysiders amid the defeat.

"Haven't really slept until now... the scenes are still running through my head again and again," Karius’ Instagram post read.

"I'm infinitely sorry to my team-mates, for you fans, and for all the staff. I know that I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down. As I said I'd just like to turn back the time but that's not possible. It's even worse as we all felt that we could have beaten Real Madrid and we were in the game for a long time.

"Thank you to our unbelievable fans who came to Kiev and held my back, even after the game. I don't take that for granted and once again it showed me what a big family we are. Thank you and we will come back stronger."
