Didier Deschamps call up for the 2018 FIFA World Cup keeps making waves, and today, tensions reached the highest level between Adrien Rabiot and Les Bleus' tactician.
The French Football Federation's president, Noel Le Gräet, revealed today that Rabiot sent them a letter, where he refused to be part of the team's list of reserves, since he didn't want to take part of the training sessions if he was not considered as a full-time member of the squad.
Rabiot's decision was leaked to the world via a report by French newspaper Le Parisien, and was later confirmed by France's boss, Didier Deschamps.
"I called him and texted him to confirm that he had written the letter. He didn't reply, but my assistant confirmed it and has already told our president of this situation," Deschamps stated in a press conference.
According to Deschamps, Rabiot's tantrum can be understandable, but that doesn't mean that this is a suitable behavior for a professional footballer.
"Of course I'm surprised. I can understand his massive disappointment for not being included in the final roster, but he's made a big mistake by taking that stance. When you're an elite player, you have to act like it even when things don't go your way. I have taken notice of his words," Deschamps added.
This is the latest problem Deschamps has been forced to deal with in the last couple of years, as the team is still under public scrutiny due to his controversial call up. Added to Rabiot's absence, Deschamps decided to snub players such as Dimitri Payet, Anthony Martial and Alexandre Lacazette, with his decision to leave Karim Benzema out of any Les Bleus' squad for over three years still haunting the former midfielder.
