The former Borussia Dortmund manager has assumed the role as manager of the French outfit.

Paris Saint-Germain has confirmed the arrival of Thomas Tuchel as the club's head coach following the departure of Unai Emery. The Spanish manager who joined the French champions in 2015 ended his spell with seven trophies.

His successor was officially introduced by PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi at the Parc des Princes. Speaking at his first press conference, Tuchel expressed his delight in taking over the mantle as manager.

"I am very happy to be here as a coach of this exceptional club," he declared.

"I want to thank Paris Saint-Germain for its trust. We are here to win and our goals are high, but it is too early to talk about titles. To achieve this we must work on a daily basis and create a common atmosphere. I can not wait to get to work.

"We have fabulous players, Paris is a city, a club, beautiful, which attracts very great players. Today my wish is to create an atmosphere in which all matches are placed at the same level.

"When players have incorporated this state of mind for all matches and all practices, we will be able to achieve our goals. Today it is too early to talk about results. We'll talk about it in the spring.

Thomas Tuchel also seemingly ended any speculation about Neymar's future after citing that the player remains an integral part of his plans.

"I met him [Neymar Jr.] last Sunday. It was a very good meeting. Neymar is an artist, an exceptional player, one of the best players in the world. If we find a way to build a structure that allows him to express his talent, then we will have a good chance of winning.

I met a very happy player, we talked a lot about tactics and I saw a smile on his face. "

Thomas Tuchel’s initial contract is expected to run until 2022.
