Luca Zidane took over from Keylor Navas in Real Madrid’s goal post in Saturday’s La Liga encounter.

Perhaps, in a bid to keep get him ready for the impending UEFA Champions League final, Los Blancos rested their No. 1 shot-stopper from Costa Rica and gave the mantle to the club’s third goalkeeper Luca Zidane. The French starlet, who had not played a single game for the club this season kept a safe pair of hands in the first 45-minutes with his side taking a 2-0 lead.

He was subsequently denied a clean sheet as second-half goals by Roger Martinez and Samu Castillejo stole a point for the Yellow Submarine. Nevertheless, manager of the Madrid club, Zinedine Zidane, still commended the 20-year-old on his season debut and debunked suggestions that the pressure on him is more since he bears his last name.

“Lucas was the only 1 who hadn't played this season.

"I'm satisfied with his debut. He is one more player of the team & nothing more.

"When he's out there, it's Luca who is playing... Not Zidane.

"As part of the team, I treat Luca as just another player from the squad. At home obviously, it's different. No pressure. I have all my players for Kiev & they are all healthy.

“We had a good first half & managed the 2nd half well keeping Kiev in mind. Now we're preparing for the most beautiful game [the Champions League Final]. We're very happy to be a part of that."
