The Spanish goalkeeper will defend the net of Sergio Conceicao's team next year in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite being linked to a move to the MLS for the better part of the season, Iker Casillas will not be joining the North American league this season.

The Spanish goalkeeper decided to sign a one-year contract extension with Porto, which gives him the chance to extend his legend in the UEFA Champions League.

Ever since Porto reclaimed the Primeira Liga title, reports coming in from Portugal suggested that the entire team told Casillas to come back for one more season, and the player had the answer to their requests today.

Casillas agreed to take a pay cut to continue playing with the Portuguese champion, according to one of his answer in an interview published by the team's website.

"It's not always about the money. Those who know me are aware about the fact that I love playing here, and now, I'm taking things as they come, I ponder every aspect of what's involved, and decide accordingly. I really happy, it was always my intention to carry on playing here," Casillas stated.

The former Real Madrid shot-stopper has played 114 games for Porto, keeping 55 clean sheets in the process. At 37, the Spanish footballer will have one more chance to play in the UEFA Champions League, and only time will tell just how much he can do to help the Portuguese squad in Europe.
