The Argentine ace's interview gave fans a chance to compare his statements to those made by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Argentinean TV channel TyC Sports kept airing bits and pieces of their exclusive interview with Lionel Messi, and in it, the Barcelona superstar once again drew a line between himself and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi's reply to a question where the journalist referred to him as the best player of all time, Messi revealed that such a title is not his main motivation.

"I don't care about being called the best in history, that's never been a goal of mine. I don't care if I'm the best, the second best, the third or fourth best. I just compete with myself, I compare my numbers to those from one year before, and I try to give it all for my team-mates and me," Messi stated.

"It doesn't make me a better or a worse person to be named as the best player of all time," Messi added.

The Blaugrana player looked back to Real Madrid's recent success in the UEFA Champions League, and how it reflects on Barcelona's poor displays in the same competition.

"It's in their DNA, sometimes they play badly and they come out on top. We struggle to do so a bit more. We have to work harder to beat our opponents. I'm always interested in winning major tournaments, and Real Madrid's accomplishments really get to me. If Cristiano (Ronaldo) wins individual trophies, fine, but that doesn't stimulate me," the player concluded.
