The English striker will not end his playing career with his boyhood club after being offered a two-year deal by the North American team.

Wayne Rooney's return to his boyhood club will only last one year, as the English striker is ready to accept an offer to join MLS side D.C. United.

According to a report by Sky Sports, the former Manchester United footballer will join the North American league this summer, as Everton and the club have agreed a $15M deal to have Rooney playing in the MLS until the end of the 2020 season.

The deal hasn't been signed yet, but Sky Sports' sources claim that there needs to be "a significant change of heart by Rooney and his family" to prevent the transfer from being completed.

Rooney is set to end his Premier League career on Everton's clash against West Ham, scheduled to take place on Sunday. D.C. United's execs pretend to make the Englishman their marquee signing for the next seasons, especially due to the opening of their new stadium on July 14.

Rooney scored 281 goals with Everton and Manchester United in over 676 apps in all competitions.
