Timeless, vintage and pure magic were how some fans described the pass served up by the departing skipper for Barcelona’s third goal. With the Brazilian pair, Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho, giving the Blaugrana a deserved early lead, the old guns rose to the occasion to delight fans with one of their textbook goals.
Iniesta combined with Lionel Messi for Barcelona’s third goal by locating the Argentine with a lobbed ball some distance out of Villarreal’s penalty box. The Barca No. 10, in turn, made no error of it by guiding the pass into the net for his 13th goal against Villarreal and his 34th of the league season.
The assist - which was Iniesta's 40th to Lionel Messi in all competitions - obviously sparked some good memories among some fans whose amusements are captured in the tweets below:
