Chelsea's disappointing defense of the English Premier League title may cause one of their best players to leave, as Eden Hazard has failed to commit to a new contract due to the team's failure to secure a spot in next year's UEFA Champions League.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Hazard's departure will be the first of many to take place in a couple of months. Regardless, the team's hierarchy is already plotting to lure his replacement away from another EPL team, and it would be none other than Anthony Martial.
The player, who has made it clear that he will not continue playing second-fiddle behind Alexis Sánchez, has told his inner circle that he wants to leave the club. Manchester United will try to exercise a clause in his contract for a one-year extension, but given that his contract expires next season, if Martial fails to sign that deal, the club might be keen on selling.
Martial has also been linked to Tottenham and Juventus, meaning that the Blues will face stiff competition to sign the French international.
