The odds of Carlo Ancelotti replacing the outgoing Arsenal manager has been slashed after he reportedly rejected the opportunity to take over the Azzurri.

With Arsene Wenger’s 22-year stay with the Gunners nearing its end, many top-flight managers in European football have been tipped to succeed the Frenchman. Massimiliano Allegri, Leonardo Jardim, Brendan Rodgers, Luis Enrique and Louis Van Gaal have all been tipped as potential replacements for the outgoing Frenchman.

However, a recent report by La Gazzetta dello Sport has cited Carlo Ancelotti as the front-runner among the bunch to take over the reins from Wenger. According to the news outlet, the 58-year-old manager has rejected the opportunity be in-charge of the Italian national team.

Ancelotti vacated his post as manager of Bayern Munich back in December 2017 after an unimpressive start to the season. He has since remained assigned but has been linked with a move to his former side, Chelsea, with Antonio Conte expected to exit the club.
