The French manager has moved to back his club’s decision to publicize his departure.

Arsene Wenger earlier voiced his dissatisfactory in the Gunners announcing his exit from the club last Friday. However, he has since gone back on his word to defend the decision.

In a statement, the London club declared that the 68-year-old manager will part ways with the club after serving for almost 22-years. This was publicized prior to Arsenal’s EPL encounter with West Ham over the weekend and their most important fixture against Atletico Madrid in the semi-final of the Europa League.

The timing was arguably bad but Arsene Wenger stated in a press conference on Wednesday that the decision to make fans aware of his imminent departure ahead of a match that will potentially decide Arsenal's feat in Europe next season was not his to make.

Nonetheless, he since come out to clear the air citing that he believes the Gunners did the right thing in making the announcement.

"After reaching agreement about my departure, I was happy for the club to decide when to announce," he said via Arsenal's official Twitter account in Spanish.

"I wish to make it clear the timing of the announcement was right."

Wenger’s decision subtly throws water on claims that his decision to leave the club was imposed on him rather than it being by mutual consent.
