The likes of De Bruyne, Salah, and Aguero made the Man City-dominated lineup.

With the Premier League season almost over, the time arrived for PFA to announce their Team of the Year. That came on Wednesday, with the best starting XI in the English top-flight for the 2017-18 season being revealed.

Unsurprisingly, the list was dominated by Man City players. After winning the title in emphatic style, the Citizens saw five of their players make the lineup.

Kevin de Bruyne lead the pack after his unforgettable campaign with the Etihad Stadium side. The Belgian ace, also a PFA Player of the Year front-runner, was joined by Nicolas Otamendi, Kyle Walker, David Silva, and Sergio Aguero.

Leroy Sane missed out on a spot despite being nominated for the Player of Year prize. Similarly, there was no spot for this year’s Young Player of the Year contestant Raheem Sterling.

The second most dominant side in the 2018 Team of the Year was Tottenham, grabbing three spots. Harry Kane was an expected inclusion due to his exploits in front of goal this term, as he is behind only one player in the Golden Boot race.

Jan Vertonghen partners Otamendi in defense while Christian Eriksen joins the Silva-De Bruyne duo in midfield. The remaining three positions went to three separate top-six clubs.

In goal, David De Gea is a no-brainer. Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso also made the cut while Mohamed Salah was an obvious inclusion in the attack.

Arsenal was the only club in the top six to have no representative in this Team of the Year. Nonetheless, not many can find fault in this lineup.
