However, the club is disappointed by the length of his extension.

Winning the Premier League – and in exceptional fashion – has earned Pep Guardiola plaudits. Now Man City is ready to reward the Spaniard for this season’s success with a new deal.

This is as reported by the Telegraph, writing that the extension should be official by the end of this season. However, talks over a new deal began before the Citizens officially won the English top-flight.

The manager’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the upcoming season, but the club is confident over finalizing a new deal that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until June 2020.

However, Man City is disappointed at the length of this extension. The club’s hierarchy discussed the possibility of keeping the 47-year-old on for a decade-long but only managed to add another year to his stay.

Nonetheless, plans for the upcoming season have already been drawn up. Despite conquering England, Man City failed to make it into the Champions League semi-final, being eliminated by Liverpool in the last eight.

There have been claims that Guardiola will be handed another huge transfer chest worth $286.4m. The Citizens gaffer is keen on bolstering a number of positions, as he is searching for a defensive midfielder and versatile attacker.

As of now, his biggest task is to finish the season with a bang. The title-winner will not be in action until next weekend when they host Swansea on Sunday.
