On Wednesday, the sad news surrounding Ray Wilkins was announced. At the age of 61, the Englishman has sadly passed away.
The former Chelsea midfielder had been in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest. After being taken to at St George's Hospital, he was placed in an induced coma.
The former Three Lions international fell into critical condition on Friday due to his heart attack. He received tons of get-well-soon messages but departed from this world a few days later.
The Chelsea icon has left behind two children, Ross and Jade, and wife Jackie. Shortly after the tragic news was confirmed, tributes poured in for the player who enjoyed a lovely career.
Many Premier League legends were quick to send their condolences upon hearing of his death. The likes of Alan Shearer and Peter Schmeichel paid their respects via Twitter, while Gary Lineker admitting to being “deeply saddened” by Wilkins’ passing away.
Having played for the likes of Chelsea, Man United, QPR, Crystal Palace, and his national team; it came as no surprise that several English clubs tweeted their condolences. Check out the tweets below.

Wilkins enjoyed success even after retirement, winning the Premier League and FA Cup as assistant manager at Stamford Bridge. He also won the Scottish Premier Division and the Chelsea Player of the Year twice during his playing time before being inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
