The Dutch boss felt betrayed by his former pupil, but now, he seems ready to bury the hatchet and mind his own business.

After almost two years of bashing his former pupil, Louis Van Gaal finally made peace with the fact that Jose Mourinho overtook his place as Manchester United's boss.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Van Gaal shared his insight on how his former pupil took over one of the hottest seats in the Premier League, and even joked about how he couldn't outperform him during his first season at the helm.

"I am not disappointed with Jose Mourinho. Every coach wants to train Manchester United, it's one of the biggest clubs in the world," Van Gaal told Sport Bild.

"I think Jose wanted that, too, and although he was able to do so in 13th place, he had a chance on a fantastic team like Chelsea. I was in fourth place! I still do not blame him," Van Gaal added.

Van Gaal was harshly criticized by Manchester United fans for his defensive tactics, but Mourinho took them to another level, prompting the Dutch boss to slam his colleague.

Despite burying the hatchet with Mourinho, the Dutch boss did not feel the same way about Ed Woodward, his boss at Manchester United, since he believes he was misled into thinking he would keep his job.

"What I find wrong is when a CEO says we're totally happy with you, do not believe the press. Then you win the FA Cup and still be fired," the manager stated.

Before the interview concluded, Van Gaal shared his thoughts on who is the best EPL manager. It should come as no surprise for him to choose Pep Guardiola, but while doing so he aimed a slight dig at the Spaniard.

"Pep Guardiola is for me currently the best coach of the Premier League. He shows a football that I would have liked to play at Manchester United. But he has better players for it. For me, the process would have taken longer. Unfortunately, I did not get the time," the Dutch tactician concluded.
