Salah vs CR7: Comparing their 2018 stats

Salah vs Cristiano: Comparing their 2018 stats ahead of Egypt vs Portugal

March 23, 2018 By Ali M.
These two superstars are set to go head-to-head on Friday in what should be an interesting friendly.

The international break is usually an unwanted distraction for football fans who idolize league matches. However, followers of the beautiful game should be excited this time around as they will get treated to a number of exciting friendlies, namely Portugal vs Egypt.

This tie could you see two of the most in-form attackers – Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah –  go head to head. The Real Madrid and Liverpool stars have been finding the back of the net for fun as of late, hence the hype surrounding their possible collision in Friday’s encounter.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has been the more frequent scorer in 2018. The 33-year-old has made 13 starts since the new calendar year began, scoring 21 times and assisting four. Three of those assists and 18 of those goals came in La Liga.

The former Roma winger, on the other hand, boasts only 13 goals and four assists in 2018 alone. However, it should be noted that the Egyptian ace has made only 11 starts this year in all competitions.

In their overall stats this season, Cristiano edges out Salah once more. The Blancos ace has netted 37 times in 35 games across all competitions in 2017/18, one more than the Reds ace (36) and two more than rival Lionel Messi (35).

Ronaldo averages a goal every 80 minutes this term, beating Salah’s tally of a goal every 90 minutes. Nonetheless, the 25-year-old has contributed to more goals this season thanks to his 10 assists, three more than the Portugal captain.

But what do all of these stats mean? Regardless of it being a friendly, Portugal and Egypt will be an entertaining game should Cristiano and Salah lead their respective nations.
