Saudi Arabia’s Football Federation has sacked Coach Nasser Al-Johar after the country fell to 3 defeats on the trot in the group stages of the Asian Cup. The last of those was a 5-0 loss to Japan.
Nasser Al-Johar had just been appointed as Saudi Arabia’s coach following the sacking of Jose Peseiro on match-day 1 of the Asian Cup. His mission was to lead the team in a new direction after it was defeated 2-1 by Syria in their opening game of the tournament.

However, Nasser Al-Johar failed to offer Saudi Arabia anything better with 2 more losses meaning that they had come to the end of the road in the Asian Cup. Team manager Fahd Al-Misaibeeh and his entire staff have also parted company with Saudi Arabia’s FA through mutual consent.

Prince Nawaf declared according to SPA:

“The Saudi Soccer Federation has accepted the resignation of Fahd Al-Misaibeeh, manager of the Saudi national team, and his crew.

“The Saudi Soccer Federation has also relieved Nasser Al-Johar of his post as the team’s current coach. We vow to immediately replace them with a highly-qualified international crew and domestic aides.”

The Asian Cup continues without Saudi Arabia who have crashed out early. On Wednesday, defending champions Iraq will play Korea DPR in an interesting encounter.
