Preview

Both teams couldn't be facing different runs of form at the moment. Arsenal, for their part, have lost their last four games across all competitions, which includes two straight defeats to Manchester City within days of each other and a recent shocking 2-1 defeat to Brighton in the Premier League last weekend. This has left Arsene Wenger's side with little hope of making it into the top four, so realistically, the only chance the Gunners have to secure a Champions League berth is to win the Europa League, a competition they are featuring in for the first time under the long-serving French tactician's tenure.

Milan, by contrast, after a difficult start, seem to have finally found their footing under former midfielder Gennaro Gattuso. Although the Derby della Madonnina was cancelled following Fiorentina skipper Davide Astori's tragic death last weekend, the Rossoneri are unbeaten in their last 12 games across all competitions. This includes a three game winning streak in Serie A, and succcessfully seeing off Lazio in the Coppa Italia to book a finals clash with Juventus later this season.

New signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang won't be able to play here, as he's cup-tied from having featured with Dortmund, while Alexandre Lacazette, Santi Cazorla, and Nacho Monreal continue to miss out due to injuries. As for the hosts, Andrea Conti and Luca Antonelli are among those who won't be available, and experienced defender Ignazio Abate - a part of the squad who took on Arsenal six seasons ago - is in doubt for a reunion with the Gunners due to fitness problems.

It's set to be an interesting re-match of the 2011/2012 Champions League quarter-finals, in which Milan won the first leg at San Siro 4-0. Arsenal, however, fought back to win the second leg 3-0 at the Emirates, but it wasn't enough to overturn the deficit, and the Gunners were sent packing. Will they avoid digging themselves into a similiar hole this time around? Or will Milan inflict another major blow on an already struggling side who certainly are lacking in confidence at the moment?
