On Wednesday, the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body of European football's governing body released a statement to rebuff PSG’s attempts to get Adrien Rabiot’s yellow card retracted. The 22-year-old midfielder was very instrumental for the Parisians at the Santiago Bernabeu last Wednesday and even capped off a fine performance by scoring the visitors’ goal in their 3-1 loss to the hosts.
However, a tackle on Luka Modric saw Rabiot attracting his first yellow card in this season's UEFA Champions League. Multiple replays of the incident show that the Real Madrid midfielder might have overdramatized his fall as there seemed to be very little contact made between him and Rabiot.
PSG subsequently petitioned to get the incident reviewed but UEFA has clearly cited that the decision still stands after looking into the issue. Adrien Rabiot remains eligible to feature in the Round of 16 second leg game at the Parc des Princes on March 6. Should he be booked again, the Frenchman will be unavailable to play in the first leg of the quarterfinal game if PSG qualifies at the expense of Real Madrid.
