New Atletico Madrid signing Juanfran has declared that contributing in ousting Real Madrid from the Copa del Rey is his first target at the club. His mission starts tonight.
Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid will lock horns in arguably the most interesting Copa del Rey quarter-final match. Los Blancos are determined to steal the cup after missing out on it since the past 17 years. However, Atletico’s Juanfran is also keen to upset the Spanish giants for the sake of his new team.
The ex-Osasuna playmaker – who joined the poor side of Spain’s capital for €4M – is ready to take matters in his own hands as a big dreamer. In his first press conference as an Atletico Madrid player, Juanfran stated:
“I’m very appreciative of Atleti’s efforts to getting me here. I’ve signed a long-term contract [which will expire in 2015] and I’m looking forward to staying here for many years.
“Our most immediate goal is to oust Real Madrid from the Copa del Rey. We must also try to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season.
“My personal wish is to convince Atletico Madrid fans. I’m delighted to be wearing this shirt.”
