Real Madrid, who is struggling in La Liga this season, is being linked with an array of talented players in the world of football. The latest name to fall under Los Blancos’ radar is, reportedly, Paul Pogba.
The Frenchman is only in the second season of his second spell with the Red Devils. Nonetheless, the Old Trafford side has failed once more to mount a serious title challenge.
Furthermore, Pogba’s relationship with Mourinho isn’t perfect. The 24-year-old was subbed off in the 2-0 loss to Tottenham in the league after reportedly disagreeing with the Special One’s tactics. The former Juventus ace was then dropped for their next game and was subbed off in their last match, a 1-0 loss to Newcastle.
According to the Sun, Man United is not willing to sell their star midfielder who has three more years left on his contract. If their position on Pogba’s future changes, Los Merengues will be in line for the Frenchman.
There are also suggestions that Paul regrets returning to Old Trafford, as he is forced to play in a more defensive midfield position instead of his preferred attacking midfielder role. If he wishes to move to Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid will have to cough up a fee in excess of $169m.
It is uncertain whether Pogba will feature in Man United’s next game, a trip to Huddersfield in the FA Cup. The opponent is a top-flight side, meaning Mourinho will need his big boys. However, the midfielder has not been performing at his best recently and might thus be rested.
