The Belgian goalkeeper has been linked time and time again to Los Blancos, but this is the first time in which he's opened up about it.

If Real Madrid don't make a move to sign Thibaut Courtois after this, then they'll surely never do it.

Speaking in an interview with Sport/Foot Magazine, the Belgian shot-stopper revealed a key element in his negotiations to extend his contract with Chelsea, and how Real Madrid could take advantage from it if they're really keen on signing him.

That element is none other than his family. The goalie's kids live with their mother back in Madrid, and even if he's almost set to extend his contract with Chelsea, a possible offer from Los Blancos involving his children would make him doubt.

"If Real Madrid are really interested, then yes, my family's situation could twist my arm, but they'd have to talk to Chelsea. Family comes first for me. But let me say this again, right now I'm focused on finishing this season on a high note with Chelsea," Courtois said.

Courtois gave a few details on how he handles being a father and a professional player far away from home, and how that would reflect on a potential transfer.

"I speak with my daughter via Facetime everyday. She frequently says that she misses me. My son is still too young to communicate with me that way. Whenever I can, I take a flight to be with them. It's not easy at times, I admit. I think it's understandable when I say that my heart's in Madrid," the player added.

Despite his words, Courtois admits that his playing career will most likely continue in London, since he's already agreed an extension, but he was asked by the club to wait for the contract's signature.

"We agreed to sit down and talk in February, since the club needed to get some other things sorted out last month. There's no pressure, I'm under contract until the end of next season. I'd say that there will be no problem if there are no changes to what we discussed," Courtois revealed.
