The Rossoneri have really struggled due to the absence of the French shot-stopper, but now look set to have him back in action pretty soon.

Despite winning the Scudetto for the first time in over a decade and thus being the reigning Serie A champs for the first time since 2011, AC Milan have not had the easiest time this season.

Stefano Pioli's side started off well in the Champions League, but back to back defeats to Chelsea, during which they failed to score a single goal, now have the Rossoneri facing an uphill battle if they want to avoid being dumped out early for the second straight season. Meanwhile, in Serie A, the Diavolo sit in fifth spot, three points behind early table leaders Napoli.

However, injuries have not helped Milan's cause, with as many as seven or eight first-team players being out at varying points this term. But there appears to be a glimmer of hope, as one of their key personnel appears to have made some great strides in his recovery from injury and could be back sooner rather than later.

Shot-stopper Mike Maignan, who has quickly grown into a fan favorite, has been out since last month after suffering a calf injury while featuring for France. The 27-year-old's role has been filled by Ciprian Tatarusanu, with the Romanian really failing to make the grade as he conceded five times during Milan's double header with Chelsea recently.

As per Italian reports, namely Tuttosport, Maignan could be getting back to action soon, which comes as a great boost for Pioli's side. The Frenchman, who played a vital role in Milan winning their first Scudetto since 2011 last season, has mostly recovered, and is only waiting to receive the green light to return to full training. While he will play no part in Milan's upcoming game against Hellas Verona, he could recover in time possibly for Milan's home match against newly promoted Monza on Saturday, October 22nd if all goes according to plan.
