Preview

The last meeting between the two sides ended as an entertaining 2-2 draw, but Chelsea certainly will have felt like it was two points dropped as opposed to one won. Had Alvaro Morata converted at least one of the numerous great opportunities he was given in that match, obviously Antonio Conte's side would have walked away with all three points in the bag, and they naturally be seeking to improve in their second meeting with Arsenal in just seven days.

Both sides experienced huge disappointment in the FA Cup a few days' back, but arguably, Arsenal will be the more frustrated of the two. The Gunners were shocked as they lost 4-2 to Championship side Nottingham Forest, thus denying Arsene Wenger's men the chance to successfully defend their title. Meanwhile, Chelsea were held to a surprise scoreless draw with Norwich, which now means that the Blues will have to try their luck in a replay.

The visitors also come into this game with quite a few players not available due to fitness problems. Sead Kolasinac, Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey, Nacho Monreal and Laurent Koscielny are all expected to miss out, while Mesut Ozil is another who could also sit out due to a knee problem. Both Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi are also in doubt and will have to undergo a fitness test to determine if they will be able to take any part in this contest.

Chelsea, by contrast, will have everyone of note available. The only absentee is new signing Ross Barkley, who is still continuing his recovery from a hamstring injury, and after last weekend's surprise draw, the Blues will be looking to improve dramatically and take advantage of Arsenal's traveling woes to give themselves a huge advantage ahead of the second leg taking place in a fortnight.
