EPL winner linked with Arsenal move

EPL winner linked with Arsenal move ahead of Chelsea clash

January 9, 2018 By Ali M.
With Alexis Sanchez likely to leave the Gunners in this transfer window, Wenger is searching for his replacement.

The January transfer window is open, meaning Arsenal is being linked to a number of players once more. Whether Wenger will sign them is debatable, but that has not stopped one Premier League winner from being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

With Alexis Sanchez likely to leave in the winter transfer window, the north London side is searching for a replacement. One man reportedly on Le Prof’s radar is Riyad Mahrez.

The Leicester ace caught the eye of Arsene and many other managers after guiding the Foxes to a remarkable league title in 2015/16. The Algerian failed to match those heights last season but is back in form this term, scoring seven and assisting 10.

Liverpool has also been linked with Mahrez as a possible Coutinho replacement, but a report from his home country has rubbished the idea of an Anfield move. According to Le Buteur, talks of the Algerian joining the Reds are “nonsense” as there has been no contact between the club and the winger.

Arsenal, on the other hand, is “very interested”. Wenger’s side reportedly wishes to beat out the competition to sign the talented 26-year-old. He won’t come cheap, though, as he has an estimated $66m price tag.

This recent report comes a day prior to the Gunners’ trip to Chelsea. Wenger’s side will lock horns with the Blues in an exciting London derby in the League Cup semi-final.
