The Spanish goalkeeper never fully recovered his level after a knee injury prior to the 2014 World Cup.

Former Barcelona and Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes called it a career yesterday, erasing all of his social media accounts while at it.

The goalkeeper, who was constantly questioned by Barça's supporters, won 21 trophies with the Blaugrana outfit, including three UEFA Champions League titles. His career took a dip when he decided not to extend his contract with Barcelona before the end of the 2013-14 season, and things took an ugly turn when he came down with a knee injury.

After his injury, Valdes played for Manchester United, Belgian side Standard Liege, and Middlesbrough.

His last message on social media stated "Thanks for everything." The player then proceeded to delete all social media accounts, as he had formerly stated he'd like to leave fame behind him once he called it quits.

Barcelona's Twitter feed posted a tribute video praising his skills with some of his finest saves.
